My feet felt the chain under them, and after I dressed myself and my clothes were soggy and cold.

I picked up the chain and followed it onto the beach with Elanor and Maude following me.
Turns out it was attached to a giant machine that seemed to be a life-size fishing reel, although the chain raveled around it looked considerably less rusty than the part that had been left in the ocean.
“So what’s on the other end?” Maude asked me, like I knew.
“I don’t know, let’s find out.”, I said and they picked up the chain.
The machine turned on, engines running, steam was blowing out of the pipes, and it made lots of noises we had never heard before.
Elanor and Maude watched it from a distance, while I held onto the lever.
It began to reel in the chain, and we saw it emerge from the sand and sea until it looked like it was pointing straight like a spear.
The mud kept turning darker as it reeled in more of the chain, and the machine was running overtime.
“How much chain is there?” Maude asked me, like I knew.
We saw something emerge from the sea, it was gigantic pushing away all the way.
The machine was making loud noises and steam was coming out of every single part.
The water settled and it showed a giant clam with a chain running into his mouth.
“No, no way!” They both yelled.
I didn’t know what to say or do, but the clam began to open its mouth.
It yelled my name very loud, blowing everything away with its shout.
We held onto the machine so we wouldn’t fly off and never be seen from again.
And then I blacked out.
“So let me get this straight. You spaced out when they asked you to join them?”, My best friend since kindergarten asked.
