He stretches his neck back a couple of pops and gazes up at the night sky.
“Come on out lady friend.”, He said over his shoulder.
A little girl stepped out of her tent, yawning and holding a tethered teddybear under her arm.
She rubbed her eyes, “Whats going on?”
“I woke you up to see something special, remember.”, He said to her.
The sound of crickets filled their ears, the summer breeze filled their lungs.
“Hey look, what’s that?!” Her father yelped.
And at that right moment a beam of light surrounded them and the little girl looked up and saw a big flying saucer spinning above them, with lights on the side.
“Wow, this is amazing, isn’t it? Once in a life time happening for sure. They must have picked our backyard to land on for the first time and picked us to be the first humans they wanted to meet.”, Her father said while the saucer started to make weird bleeping sounds.
“Some really lame special effects daddy.”, His daughter said yawning again.
Greatly discouraged her father waved his hands in the air and his neighbor yelled at him, “What?”
“She’s not impressed, so pull it back up.”, He yelled back.
She rubbed her eyes again and went back into her tent.
He picked a small note from his pocket and crossed out the ‘UFO’ line.
So far he had tried all sort of things to make his daughter experience a special moment that will stay with her forever.
From watching the moon landing to finding a treasure on the beach, nothing seemed to impress her.
Movies, video games and the internet had ruined his daughter.
“Damnation!” He screamed into the night sky, shaking his fists up at the stars.
