“Have you noticed how they are always holding hands? They never seem to let go. I swear if the ground between them would begin splitting in two they still wouldn’t let go of each others hands.“, Elma explained to the bus driver.
She was looking at the couple standing in the middle of the bus from the rear view mirror and continued, “And what about on hot summer days their hands would get all sweaty that must be smelly. They probably still wash them, add some soap between their palms and dip their clenched hands in water.”
“During winter is might be warmer than not holding hands, if its not than they might wear a special glove.”, She said going on and on about the loving couple.
The driver went to a happy place located somewhere in the depths of his mind, to a memory of better times when he won the robot dancing contest in high school and how all the girls wanted him.
As the bus turns a sharp corner the colors of the setting sun splashed the passenger’s faces, wiping their day away like an atomic blast.
