  • His Last Salute

    June 6, 2009 — With 108 words & Read — Labelled as: Story
His body is getting colder and he loses the feeling in his legs.
The cold starts crawling up to his chest, slowly freezing every part of his body.

Flashes illuminate the sky, bullets shooting past him glow like fireflies.
Ashes from cities set in flames tickle his eyelids.

Small clouds leave his mouth, they collide.
He jolts like being struck by its lightning.

Jet planes flying over and the sound of a thousand men marching towards him, makes him stay awake a bit longer.

Falling bombs hitting the ground make the sound of a war drum.
Beating faster and faster, his heart goes slower and slower.

    Everything starts to blur.
He raises his hand for one last salute.
