Natasha sat on her chair next to the window that she had been staring out of for the past half hour.
She watched the wind storming outside picking up leaves and small bits of trash and twirling them around.
It was autumn outside, her favorite of all seasons.
A hand reached for her shoulder but paused when it was almost there.
The floorboards below her cracked and startled her.
Her eyes became wider when she saw who was standing behind her.
It was the one she had known as Cuddles so long ago.
Or at least she saw it was, but the last time she saw Cuddles he was only a tiny teddy bear she got from her mother the day she began her chemo.
He was standing in front of her after more than fifteen years, almost two meters taller that she remembered him.
She dug her face in his furry chest and wrapped her arms around him.
Her high pitched voice vibrated through his fur, “Mr. Cuddles.”
“Natasha.”, He said as he stroked her hair.
She looked up at his friendly smile on his face, “Stay with me forever Cuddles.”
The chair she was sitting on before started to slide across the room followed by everything else in her room that was light enough to move.
A bouquet of flowers sticking out of a Chinese vase, picture frames that showed moments when she was still smiling, her favorite books, and the ‘Get Well Soon’ cards she got from friends and family all started to fall to the other side of the room.
It was as if the earth’s axis rotated and they began to fall down against the wall opposite to the window.
The window had now become the ceiling and she fell asleep on top of his warm furry belly.
Mr Cuddles looked up and watched the sun break through the dark clouds passing by.
They were together once again.
“Things will be better this time, I promise.”
