  • Cryogenics – Till Hell Freezes Over

    November 5, 2009 — With 673 words — Read — Share
Koen Stanko was a driver for CryoTransport and he had one wife, two kids and three pets.
His wife, son, daughter, dog, cat and guinea pig were all staring back at him in the picture that he had glued onto his dashboard.
He was hanging upside down in his banged up van, covered in cuts and bruises and one of his broken ribs had punctured his lung.
The only thing he could do was hope someone would come to his rescue.

“Now that’s something you don’t see every day.”, Mervin said while he rested his chin on the steering wheel.
He and his wife Nancy were staring at a variety of gooey organs that fell out of the van and into the full summer sun.
“That’s so disgusting, and a waste.”, Nancy said while she was searching through the glove compartment for something to read instead of having to look out of the front window.
Mervin continued to stare at the organs that were scattered on the hot asphalt defrosting like popsicles on a grill.
“Maybe we should clear out our cool box, pick up one of those organs and sell it on the black market.”, Mervin looked to his side and saw his wife reading the car’s manual because it was all she could find to keep her from seeing those melting organs.
She made a specific sound with her mouth, it was the sound she made when she was very displeased with something.
Most of the times he was the one that caused the displeasing.
He looks over his shoulder out of the back window, a large row of cars was behind them, waiting for the wreck in front of them to be towed away.
“Where is the fire department, the police?”, Mervin asked right before he saw the empty backseat.
“I don’t know.”, Nancy said while she flipped to the page with technical information about the build in cigarette lighter.
Mervin turned back to his wife, “Where Tim?”
They look out of their front window and they saw Tim walking between the mushy organs.
Nancy held on to the dashboard with both hands, “Oh my God!” (x3)
She began to roll her window down and Tim picked up a pair of brains.
“Timothy put that down immediately and get back into the car!”, She yelled with her head hanging out of the window.
Mervin stepped out of the car and leaned onto the door, “Timmy drop the brain, pick up a kidney or a liver instead.”
“I can’t believe you, are you crazy!”, Nancy yelled while she got out of the car and walked over to Tim.
She was holding a pack of wipes, and used them to clean Tim’s hands and dragged him back to the car.
“What? We could use the extra money.”, Mervin said when he sat back down into his seat.
Nancy buckled Tim back into his seat and got back into the car and she made the sound again.
The police and fire department finally arrive and they watch the firemen getting out of their truck.
Something is happening but they’re not sure what, the firemen run to the front of the van and pull the door open.
They begin to pull out the driver who looks banged up.
Mervin and Nancy are looking at it with their mouths open, “There was still someone inside?”

Later that day when the sun had set down Mervin and Nancy are sitting on the couch watching the news.
“Hey that’s our car!”, Mervin yelled jumping off the couch.
Nancy made the sound again, “Be quiet Tim is asleep.”
    She turned the volume up.
“The driver Koen Stanko was hanging upside down in his van for over thirty minutes until the fire department arrived. this took so long because someone finally called the police after twenty minutes.”, The newscaster explained.
Again they were staring with their mouths open.
“He had severe injuries to his lungs and kidney, the company he worked for were to blame for the accident due to bad maintenance to the vehicle, they took full responsibility gave him a new kidney and lung.”
“Now that’s something you don’t hear every day.”, Mervin said while he rested his head on Nancy’s shoulder.
