  • Are You Looking At Me?

    February 14, 2010 — With 451 words & Read — Labelled as: Story
Lucy was sitting on the couch minding her own business, giving her coloring book the overhaul it desperately needed when she felt someone was looking over her shoulder.
“What are you looking at?” She asked her new babysitter without turning towards her.
Sitting next to her on the couch was a fourteen and a half years old blond wearing sunglasses so dark it made you think the glass were slices of a black hole put onto a frame.
She turned her head towards Lucy and the two stared at each other for the duration of the commercials on the TV, “I’m watching my show.”
“Whats with the sunglasses anyway?” Lucy asked her babysitter.
Her babysitter was unsure of what to say so there was a awkward pause between them, “I wear these because I look tired.” She said.
“Every time you have to babysit me?” Lucy asked.
Her babysitter turned up the volume of the TV and said, “Every time.”
“Then why don’t you go to bed on time?” Lucy asked.
She gave Lucy a soft push that made her drop some of her crayons off the couch.
“You ask to many questions, just focus on your doodling.”, She said.
Lucy rolled her eyes and said, “Fine, you don’t have to be such a meanie.”
She picked up her crayons and she looked at her babysitter staring at the TV and tried looking past her the side of her sunglasses when she saw her pupil looking straight at her.
“I cant believe Dean cheated on his husband again!” She yelled at her favorite soap opera.
Lucy had no clue what was going on, and started pulling some funny faces at her babysitter who did not seem to notice anything she was doing.
She did the best faces she could but not a response even though she was looking straight back at her.
Lucy climbed back onto the cough and noticed the babysitter’s left eye was still staring at her.
She tried to focus on her coloring but couldn’t take it anymore and yelled, “Stop staring at me!”
Her babysitter turned towards her and said, “I can’t help it.”
Lucy was confused and was about to ask something when her babysitter yelled, “Oh, come on that’s the sixteenth time Adam has come back to life!”
“Maybe I should go to bed, drawing has made me tired.” Lucy said acting out a big yawn.
Lucy did not sleep well that night, she had a nightmare.
She was running through a never ending hallway being chased by a giant eyeball and no matter how fast she ran she just couldn’t get to the end.
The following week she had a new babysitter named Hedwig who had a tendency to laugh at random moments, and her laughter was a lot like that of a witch.
