Silas is a beachcomber by nature you could say he was already looking for washed on debris in the womb.
He spends all his time walking up and down beaches near his home.
This to find himself things people threw away or objects that fell from a ship.
At night he dreams he might someday find a big treasure, this might be what keeps him going.
As soon as the sun came up Silas would put on his gear and go to the beach.
He always has his shovel, a metal detector and some binoculars with him.
Silas lost the excitement of possibly finding a big treasure a thousand beer bottle caps ago.
The best stuff he ever found was a watch which he still wears and the hat on his head.
He does find a lot of money that people lose while sitting in the sand, enough to keep his house and his belly stuffed.
Silas scans the horizon to see if something has drifted onto the beach, and to his surprise on this day something did.
The sun made the object shine and sparkled like a bar of gold.
He continues to search for valuables until he got to the bottle, this because he was the only one on the beach at the time so there was no need to rush.
Coming closer it appeared to be a bottle with a piece of paper in it.
Silas learned to be patient after finding junk for years.
So he didn’t rush into thinking big things.
But still he couldn’t help himself, the bottle could contain a map showing the location of a big treasure.
After picking it up he ran off home and put the bottle on his desk that’s in the center of his room placed by the only window that’s not blocked by all the junk he found on the beach.
He takes of his watch, the one that he found a long time ago that stopped running before he even found it.
After taking off his gear, he takes a seat at his desk and pulls out the cork.
He slips his finger in the bottle and picks out the note.
Rolls it open and sees the note has the following written on it;
“Please return to:
Bobby Bray, P.O. Box 2938, London
Thank in advance.”
